Between The Lines: Greentea Peng
Breaking down "TARDIS (Hardest)" & speaking on the importance of imperfections.
Hey Friends!!
I’m so pleased to say Season 3 of Between The Lines has landed! Kicking off with the ethereal Greentea Peng.
We dissected line for line “TARDIS (Hardest) from her third album “Tell Dem It’s Sunny”, a UK hip hop anthem that evokes the spirit of Roots Manuva. Braggadocios & affirming; this is the kind of track you want to start your morning with!
The song is the starting point, we celebrate the craft of songwriting, but we also delve into the life experiences that contributed to the song’s themes! We take unexpected tangents and I can never predict where the conversation ends up. That is the beauty of this podcast.
“TARDIS (Hardest)” embodies bold lyrics on growth & reflection which led us to talk about our teenage years, embracing imperfections, Motherhood & spirituality.
I was deeply moved by her description of mothering a daughter and the realisation that the unkind things you’ve said to yourself, you would never say to your child! I understand that parenthood isn’t in everyone’s plans, so please feel free to reframe it for a loved one or friend. Sometimes that inner voice can be SO LOUD!
I’m learning so much from these conversations, it’s like lifting a veil. and truly seeing an artist beyond the music. I hope something in the conversation resonates with you. Please feel free to comment and share if so.
I’m self-funding this podcast, so it genuinely helps to know people are listening
