Heyyy Friends,
It’s 7:29am and I’m trying to get ahead. Headphones off and coffee in hand. Hoping and praying that Forest fancies a lie in! I must admit - the kid is a good sleeper, yesterday she slept in until 10am. The reason that was so handy was because I stayed up till 3am bingeing the new Netflix series Supacell! Hard recommend and I would do it all over again!! I am so bad at staying up for “just one more.”
How are you?? So much has been going on, summer fun, Euros, elections, faaackk! Adult life is busy innit! Love to everyone I have seen over the last month. In and amongst the chaos I’ve met and reconnected with so many beautiful people and we’ve laughed & danced.
No matter how unstable the world can feel sometimes, there have been so many moments this summer that fuel me to feel hopeful. That alongside listening to Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation’s Album “Things Are Getting Better” and keeping a lid on my doom scrolling. I also recently watched a brilliant talk at Glastonbury titled “Optimism Is A Political Act” and they suggested reading Rob Hopkins “From What Is to What If: Unleashing the Power of Imagination to Create the Future We Want.”
So I bring you a sprinkle of hope & musical gifts…

JAMZ FIRST VINYL SET
For the most recent Jamz Supernova +1 I wanted to kick off the night with a vinyl set - playing records I had picked up during my trips to Colombia. Whilst in recent years I have been playing more wax on radio I haven’t ever played it during my DJ sets, so this felt like a great opportunity to challenge myself and give it a go. The result… I LOVED IT.
Now, the thing with warming up the vibes at your own club night in Peckham on a Friday means you risk an empty room until midnight, so hold tight to the 5 ravers who witnessed history. But it wasn’t a wasted experience, and now you can enjoy it too!

WORLDWIDE FESTIVAL

Wow… What to say after my 4th Worldwide Festival. It really is the most magical place.
Let me set the scene in Seté (hah see what I did there, bad joke..) Basically, not too far from Montpellier or Marseille you’ll find Seté, a beautiful port city in the South Of France. A stunning Canal runs through it and on the right day you might even catch some boat jousting! Sandy Beaches are easy to locate and you can choose between party or family vibes.
The food, ahh man - the French know how to eat! Fresh affordable seafood at every turn. My fave place has to be Halles de Sète, a market where you can go around to all the different stalls picking out fresh prawns, clam salads, cheese, octopus pies, bread, olives. You name it. Sit on a table overlooking the square with a rosé and tuck in.
Now, the festival... I have to big up Gilles Peterson and the team for every year curating such a special line up. For the most part it’s a niche offering, you will definitely discover a new favourite act during your time there! Personally I like the lack of choice, you just have to trust in their curation and the process. By day you go to the beach and dance to three DJ’s - a mixture of big and small names. Imagine Laurent Garnier alongside a Seté local. In the evening you head to the Theatre De La Mar and watch two or three acts followed by two DJ’s. Call it a night at 3am, rinse and repeat the next day. Fave sets over the four years have to be Kokoroko in 2018, Yussef Dayes 2022 & Dexter Wansel 2023 & Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation 2024!
There are rumours of there only being two more editions. Please experience it at least once if you can.
NEWS FROM THE FUTURE BOUNCE HQ
For those that don’t know, I run a label called Future Bounce. It’s our 6th year and I am really proud of our recent releases with emerging artists. Get to know them below.
Bikôkô - One of our newest signings. From Barcelona, she grew up with her Cameroonian dad touring Spain as part of a band. She produces, writes, sings and plays live with her sampler! She played both Sonar & Primavera, which is unheard of! Deffo One to Watch. We have an EP dropping in October.
Sola - Queen of the label. Sola has been with us since 2020. This year we’re dropping live renditions of tracks from her EP “Warped Soul”. Experiencing Sola live and watching her on the piano is a real treat. She is classically trained but also loves Timbaland & Burial.
Kiss Nuka - Kicking off the Vol 3 of our Club series. Kiss Nuka is from Mumbai, India and started her career doing playbacks for Bollywood before doing a complete U-turn and banging out the Techno & Bass rollers! I love this release. It's a fun, fresh take on electronica.
BARBICAN
Don’t forget London peeps! We have a big party coming up at The Barbican on August 9th. Kiss Nuka is on the lineup alongside:
Nidia - out of Lisbon, part of Principé records. Expect a ton of Kuduro and a fusion of crazy electronic sounds from Angola to Portugal.
Yaw Evans - Live electronics from South East London. Expect a set spanning Garage, Bass & House.
Toya Delazy- The Afrorave queen is collaborating with me on a very special set. SA Meets UK. I’ll be on the decks, she’ll be on the mic!
#OFFAIR PLAYLIST
And lastly, your bespoke playlist. 33 songs I’ve fallen in love with over the last month. Bashy’s new album is a masterpiece for my rap lovers and Allysha Joy soothes us with the soul. I’ve added some goodies from Mozambique, plus my Jamz Shazam thumb has been active picking up music from Festivals all around Europe. Remember to like & save!
YES! Supacell is excellent. We binged it in about 3 days. Familiar settings, amazing cast & the soundtrack is TEN TEN👌🏽. Can't wait for season 2! xx
Love this. Really wanted to come to the carpet shop gig, but it’s just a little too late for me, maybe I’ll limber up a bit for next time 🤣. Really love your 6 music show every Saturday, I plan my day around it, so this newsletter is such a great addition. Thank you!
